This version of MK includes all of the versions until the year released. Most of you may have experienced Mortal Kombat series years ago. To add to this review, for people buying this collection to play on their backwards compatible PS3. This game was made on the last few cents that Midway had left before being absorbed by WB. You also notice clearly that all the character were mocapped by the same person. Not to bash on this more but some charaters are outright lame (Mocap) and don't belong in the standart player selection screen. The create a fatality is just boring and before every character had some special fatality they could do now everything is exactly the same and all 50 characters do the exact spine rip or heart rip attack. MKA boasts a create your fighter and create a fatality, which is fun, how ever just seems asif the art department ran out of idea's. To me it felt as if the game was sluggish and you couldn't pull of combo's as easy as in MKT for instance. This was a little dissapointing for scorpions spear moves and Lui Kangs flying kick. Therefore all of the (directional) double tap moves have been modified into B F (X). The move system had trouble factoring in the quick dashes. This release of Mortal Kombat tries to stay true to the original MK, how ever in 3D. The initial few cutscenes are how ever a little anoying, the voice acting and acting is something you need to bite through before you can enjoy the game. If you liked God Of War you probably will like playing this game too. Where the player has to battle through hoards of enemies. This game has some elements from Sub-zero's M ythology's. I was never really a fan of different style of the MK games (I usually enjoyed the beat em up genere) this grinding button basher was actually fun to play. Still true to the fatalities of MKT and has some funny extra's like chess and MK carts.
This game was fun for a couple of hours, how ever the difference in moves got in the way for me. I primarily bought this collection, for Shoalin Monks and Deception because I never got to play those around release time. To subdivide this into individual reviews: You get every Mortal Kombat made for the PS2 in one box.
